How to Analyze Referring Domains Report
Understanding Referring Domains and TLD Distribution Guide
In SEO, analyzing the referring domains and the distribution of top-level domains (TLDs) linking to your site is pivotal for crafting a robust link-building strategy. Here’s how to interpret and utilize the data from our tool.
Analyze Referring Domains Report Over Time
- Referring Domains Graph: This graph charts the number of unique domains that have linked to your site over a specified time, usually the past 12 months.
- The upward trend indicates an increase in domains that find your content valuable enough to link to.
- Referring Domains Counters: Two numbers are highlighted alongside the graph:
- Referring Main Domains: This number may represent the primary domains linking to your site without counting their subdomains.
- Referring Domains: This is the total count of all domains, including subdomains, that link back to your site.
Understanding TLD Distribution
- TLD Distribution Donut Chart: This chart provides a visual representation of the TLDs (.com, .net, .org, etc.) from which your site’s backlinks are sourced.
- A diverse TLD distribution can indicate a global reach and authority across different sectors.
Table Breakdown
- Domain: Lists the domains that are linking to your website. This can help identify which websites are providing backlinks and their potential impact on your SEO.
- Domain Rank: This metric ranks the referring domain’s importance and authority on the web. A lower domain rank generally indicates a more authoritative website.
- Referring Domains: The number here shows how many separate domains link to the specific listed domain. It can give insights into the breadth of a site’s backlink profile.
- Backlinks: Displays the total number of backlinks from the listed domain to your website. More backlinks might indicate strong content or a valuable partnership.
- Broken Backlinks: If a backlink no longer leads to existing content or the destination page has been removed, it’s counted as broken. This column shows the number of such links for each domain.
- Broken Pages: Reveals the count of pages within the referring domain that contain broken links to your website.
- First Seen: Indicates the date when the tool first detected a backlink from the listed domain to your site. This helps in tracking the age of your backlinks and can correlate with link-building efforts.
